Change the unit of LibreOffice ruler

If you use LibreOffice Writer frequently, you probably have learnt to rely on the rule to manage the margins and tabs of your documents. If you need to have a different sets of units, such as  Centimetres or points, you can change the unit of LibreOffice ruler.

LibreOffice is a free and open-source office suite. It was forked in 2010 from OpenOffice.org, which in turn was an open-sourced version of StarOffice. The LibreOffice suite consists of different programs for word processing, spreadsheets, slideshows, diagrams and drawings, and databases.

To change the unit of measurement in LibreOffice Writer, go to Tools > Options.

In the tree on the left go to “LibreOffice Writer” section by clicking the plus sign to the left; once there and then select “General”.

Under “Settings” on the right, select an option, such as Inch, Millimetre, or any other from the “Measurement unit” drop-down list.

Click “OK” to save the change and close the Options dialog box. The values of any tabs you already had on the ruler are adjusted to the newly selected unit so they remain in the same place.

The change of the unit of LibreOffice ruler will affects all documents that are already and ones you open or create after the change.
