[UPDATED] Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista SP1 delayed
Microsoft announced Wednesday that it delayed the rollout of the third Service Pack for Windows XP and the first service pack for Windows Vista because some of the changes that the Service Packs included can corrupt Microsoft Dynamics’ data.
The announcement was already made by a Microsoft representative in a post on a RMS support forum, but the confirmation arrived only Tuesday.
According to Tom Berger, who identified himself as a Microsoft online support engineer on the above forum post, both Service Packs changed the way that Microsoft SQL Server database handles some records, specifically those that include information from multiple tables.
Microsoft did not stated a deadline for the fix to the problem, but at least it is working on filters that will allow all computer except those running Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management to download the current Service Packs anyway.
In the meantime Windows Vista users can still opt to manually download and install the Service Pack (Windows XP users cannot so far).
Microsoft Dynamics is a company’s retail point-of-sale and store management software.

Well… it’s fun. Microsoft realized just now that their service packs would’ve broken their own “Microsoft Dynamics” whatever it is. After all they weren’t in beta for long time. No wait…
