Linus Torvalds announced yesterday evening that the Linux Kernel 2.6.29 has been released.
The most peculiar changes of the kernel 2.6.29 are:
- support for Intel’s hardware kernel mode-settings;
- initial support for the “brtfs” filesystem (it is still reccomended to use it only on testing environments, and not on production machines);
- updates for “Graphics Execution Manager” and “DRM”;
- support for WiMax 802.16 stack;
- support for eCryptfs for encrypted filesystems.
