World of Warcraft: Cataclysm announced at BlizzCon 2009
Dress up
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm will bring a radical change to the current character’ stat system and therefore to the new equipments we will gather through quests and mobs … and let me tell you: to me it is a extremely radical change (I can’t say if it will be good or bad until I will personally test it).
The first most noticeable change is about Attack Power (for physical damage classes) and Spell Power (for casters): they are no longer directly available on the items!!! Attack Power will be attainable with agility (2 AP per 1 AGI) for Rogues, Hunters, Shamans, Druids and Strength (2 AP per 1 STR) for Warriors, Paladins, and Death Knights while casters get Spell Power from Intellect (I don’t know the ratio at the time of writing this).
Another drastic change is for mana regeneration: MP5 will be gone and healers will have to stack Spirit instead and relay on some form of Meditation (it seems that dps casters won’t need it).
There will be no more Defense as tanks are going to find some form of defense-capping abilities in their talents tree.
On a brief consideration (until more info are available):
- Hastes will now affect focus/rage/energy regeneration for physical damage classes and casting speed for casters;
- Armor penetration has been removed;
- Block Value is gone, but blocks now mitigate a percentage of damage;
- Currently purchasable heirlooms will “probably” (not sure about that) not scale to 85 since the new “Guild Leveling System” will generate guild heirlooms for the entire guild in any slot;
