World of Warcraft: Cataclysm announced at BlizzCon 2009

    Two New Playable Races

Has it happened to TBC with the Dranei and the Blood Elves, this expansion will introduce two new playable races: the Worgen for the Alliance and the Goblins for the Horde.

    Worgens

Worgens are the residents of Gilneas, a zone south of Silverpine Forest that already exists on current WoW, but that is inaccessible because locked behind the Greymane Wall.

The residents of Gilneas were once humans whom during the Third War summoned the aggressive Worgen race to combat the Scourge, but this act eventually cursed them to be transformed in such Worgens themselves.

They self-confined themselves behind the Greymane Wall for many years, but since recently the Forsaken decided to assault them, they requested aid to the Alliance therefore becoming allied.

Regarding the racials abilities Worgens will have: “Darkflight” as a form of sprint, “Aberration” that reduce the duration of curses and diseases, “Flayer” that give +15 Skinning bonus, “Worgen form” as a cosmetic buff (out of combat can appear either as human or worgen).

Worgen can be Death Knight, Druid, Hunter, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Warlock, Warrior.

    Goblins

The first thing to say about the Goblins is that, while they are the same race of the current Goblins in game, they are a separate faction (the “Steamwheedle Cartel” will remain an independent faction).

The goblin were living on the island of Kezan, but recently the island has been destroyed by a volcano erupted under it forcing them to flee and settle on an island off the coast of Kalimdor where they met the Horde whom offered help and alliance.

Regarding the racials abilities Goblins will have “Rocket Jump” that allow to jump 20 yards (2 min) cooldown, “Better Living Through Chemistry” that grant +15 Alchemy and allow their own created potions give more health/mana (only to them apparently), “Pack Hobgoblin” that call a personal servant to offer the bank content (30 min cooldown).

Goblins can be Death Knight, Hunter, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, Warrior.
